ACOP L8

The HSE (The Health and Safety Executive) has published its approved Code of Practice (ACoP) L8 4th edition and the technical guidance documents for dealing with Legionnaire's Disease in residential water systems. The guidance is intended for those who are in control of private rented properties (i.e. landlords and letting agents) and who have a legal responsibility to protect their tenants against the risk of contracting this potentially fatal disease. Landlords and letting agents must identify and assess sources of risk by carrying out a risk assessment in their properties. Water analysis may also be considered to identify the actual presence of legionella bacteria.  It is not required in all cases.
